The International Poster Competition 2026 “NO GLOBAL CHORNOBYL”

At Kryla Youth Club, creativity is more than simply drawing or painting. It is a way for young people to express their ideas, emotions, and hopes for the future. This year, our young artists have brought their creativity to an international stage by participating in the International Poster Competition 2026 “NO GLOBAL CHORNOBYL”, organised to mark the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy.

For many teenagers today, Chornobyl is a historical event they know mainly through stories, documentaries, or family memories. Yet the disaster still influences global conversations about energy, environmental responsibility, and safety. Through this project, young people at Kryla Youth Club had the opportunity to reflect on these issues and express their thoughts through visual art.

Rather than focusing on just one of the themes proposed by the competition organisers, the participants made a thoughtful decision — to bring all six themes together in a single artwork. This approach allowed them to create a deeper and more complex message that connects the past with present challenges and the hope for a safer future.

The creative process began with discussion.

Before the first pencil touched the paper, the group talked about what Chornobyl represents today. The conversation quickly moved beyond the nuclear disaster itself. Participants discussed:

  • environmental responsibility
  • modern approaches to energy
  • the impact of war on nature and people
  • the importance of learning from history
  • the role of younger generations in shaping the future

Once the ideas were collected, the young artists began developing sketches. The table soon filled with sketchbooks, pencils, rulers, acrylic paints, and colourful materials. Each participant contributed ideas and visual elements that could become part of the final poster.

The process was truly collaborative. Some participants focused on symbolism, others worked on composition, while others experimented with colour and texture. Together they refined the concept until it developed into a coherent visual story.

The final design reflects not only artistic talent but also careful thought, discussion, and teamwork.

At Kryla Youth Club, we believe that young people have important things to say about the world they are growing up in. Art gives them a powerful way to express those ideas.

Through colour, symbols, and imagination, they can communicate thoughts that are sometimes difficult to put into words. Their poster for the “NO GLOBAL CHORNOBYL” competition is not just an artwork — it is a message.

A message about responsibility.
A message about resilience.
A message about hope.

Most importantly, it reminds us that the future is not something that simply happens to us — it is something we create together.

And today, the young artists of Kryla Youth Club are already helping to shape that future.

🖤💛 Because the voice of youth matters.
And that voice reminds us: the future depends on all of us.
