Our recent Family Sport Day was a brilliant reminder of how quickly our community is expanding — and just how inspiring that growth can be.
With nearly 80 people in attendance — around 30 families — the day brought together not only Ukrainians, but also new families from Afghanistan and Ethiopia. It was great to welcome our friends from the Refugee and Migrant Centre, who joined us for the day too.It was a powerful moment of connection of a diverse community coming together through shared laughter and play.
From the start, the atmosphere was full of energy: happy faces, new friendships forming, supportive chats, and spontaneous hugs. This is what a living, breathing community looks like — one where everyone feels they belong.
🌞 The sun came out, and so did the smiles. We filled the day with laughter, energetic team games, and just the right amount of friendly chaos. Although it was a celebration of International Children’s Day, everyone had fun — kids and adults alike.
One of the highlights was the tug-of-war competition — a moment of pure excitement! The ground seemed to shake as teams pulled with all their might, shouting, laughing, falling, getting up, and pulling again — giving it their all.
💥 Both children and adults crawled on their knees, jumped in sacks, fell onto the grass — all with genuine laughter, enthusiasm, and a spark in their eyes.
💙 Our incredible Kryla Youth Club volunteers truly shone. These teenagers helped organise teams, supported the younger kids, and guided families — doing it all with such energy and care, as if born to lead.
🔥 And of course, our coach Roman brought his usual spark. With his calm approach and great sense of humour, he filled the day with team spirit and made sure everyone felt welcome and ready to join in.
This day was another step towards making Kryla Family Sport Days a space where cultures, generations, and stories come together. Where sport is just the starting point — and the real value is found in the people.
