We are Kryla

Founded by newcomers for newcomers

Kryla, meaning “wings” in Ukrainian, symbolise the spirit of freedom and empowerment. We want every person arriving in the UK in search of safety to rediscover this spirit. That is why we stand alongside refugees and displaced families, offering a helping hand and comprehensive support throughout Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

As people who have experienced displacement ourselves, we understand the challenges of adapting to a new life – the complexities of navigating a different culture, the frustration of language barriers, the difficulty of finding your place in a new country. And we want everyone who arrives here to know that they are not alone in this journey.

Our mission is to create a supportive environment where people can spread their wings and reach new heights. At Kryla, children find a nurturing space to heal and grow, young people discover opportunities to connect and develop skills, and adults receive the practical support they need to integrate, rebuild, and thrive.
