A Visit to the University of Birmingham

On 26th May 2026, we had a wonderful opportunity to visit the University of Birmingham. It was a great chance to learn more about university life and what it could be like to study at university in the future. The visit was an enjoyable and educational experience. The group of Ukrainian teens aged 14 to 18 learned more about university life, explored the University of Birmingham campus and gained useful information about higher education.

When we arrived at the university, we were introduced to the campus and given some information about the university. We then went on a tour around the campus, where we saw different buildings and areas used by students. We were able to see the kind of spaces where students, socialise, study and take part in university activities. It was useful to see these things in person rather than just hearing about them.

As well as the tour, we attended a talk about universities and higher education. During the talk, we learned more about what university is, how students choose courses and some of the things people should consider when deciding where they might want to study.

The talk encouraged teens to think about their futures and what they might want to achieve after school. For some of them, the visit may have helped start thinking about possible subjects or careers.

Visiting the University of Birmingham was also a good opportunity to experience something new. Being on a university campus allowed teens to imagine what it might be like to attend university themselves one day. It helped make the idea of university feel more familiar and less like something that is far away in the future.

It was a valuable experience that gave us a better understanding of university and showed us some of the possibilities that could be available to us after school.
