At Kryla Youth Club, community is built not only through creative projects but also through moments of celebration that bring young people together. This year, to mark Vyshyvanka Day, we organised a special youth picnic that celebrated Ukrainian traditions while creating new friendships and lasting memories.
The event welcomed 37 young people, who gathered in a relaxed outdoor setting wearing their embroidered vyshyvankas. The picnic became more than a celebration of cultural heritage—it was an opportunity for young people from different backgrounds to connect, share experiences, and enjoy spending time together.
The day was filled with conversation, laughter, and a variety of group activities designed to encourage participation and teamwork.
Through games, shared meals, and informal discussions, participants had the chance to get to know one another in a welcoming and inclusive environment. For many, it was an opportunity to meet new people, build confidence in social settings, and strengthen their sense of belonging within the local community.
The atmosphere reflected the spirit of Vyshyvanka Day: celebrating identity, unity, and the traditions that connect generations. Wearing traditional embroidered clothing created a meaningful link between Ukrainian culture and the experiences of young people living in the community today.
Throughout the afternoon, friendships were formed, stories were shared, and new connections emerged naturally. The picnic demonstrated how simple community events can have a lasting impact by creating safe and enjoyable spaces where young people can relax, have fun, and feel included.
At Kryla Youth Club, we believe that opportunities like these play an important role in supporting young people’s wellbeing and encouraging positive social relationships.
The Vyshyvanka Day picnic was a wonderful reminder that celebrating culture can also strengthen community, inspire new friendships, and create memories that young people will carry with them long after the event has ended.
