Book Launch 21 Mar

We are pleased to invite you to the official launch of the book “Old Memories” — an inspiring project created by Ukrainian young people together with the older generation.

This book tells about the childhood and youth of our grandparents, their dreams, challenges and everyday joys at a time when life was very different.

In 2022, after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, many families were forced to leave their homes and seek safety in the United Kingdom. Along with their suitcases, they brought not only their belongings, but also warm memories, favourite recipes, songs, traditions and a lifetime of experience.

This book is the result of a joint effort between Ukrainian teenagers and the older generation, who worked together to preserve these memories and pass them on to future generations. Young people aged 12 to 21 wrote the texts themselves and selected photographs that help bring that time to life.

Our aim is to show what life was really like for the older generation and to preserve these memories for the future. Understanding the past helps us better understand who we are and where we come from.

We invite you to take a small journey back in time — into the world of our grandparents, their lives, traditions and their deep love for their homeland, Ukraine.
